The New York Children’s Theater Festival is New York's only 501(c)(3) non-profit festival dedicated to the development of theater for youth!

Mission Statement

The New York Children’s Theater Festival , a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves family audiences by supporting upcoming artists and industry professionals who are passionate about creating theatrical experiences and productions for children. NYCTF will foster critical awareness for the art form, through professional development and enrichment opportunities for those dedicated to the craft of creating new works for young audiences. As well as annually presenting new works, NYCTF will also provide resources and services that will support artist in their work to develop and inspire the next generation of theatergoers.

Our Vision

The future of theater for young audiences is found in the work of artists, innovators and industry professionals who understand the integral part that theater plays in a child's development. These leaders and creative minds are in need of an outlet to create, develop and showcase new works. The New York Children's Theater Festival serves as an inspiring environment and provides a focused platform along with a pool of resources for creative professionals to be seen in New York City.

The New York Children's Theater Festival seeks to expand the dialogue on the importance of theater for youth within the New York theater community as a whole. Theater for Young Audiences, as it currently exists, has a stong passionate community at its core and NYCTF looks to broaden constructive dialogue within the community. By supporting the development of innovative work, NYCTF looks to influence the conversations taking place about theater for young audiences and bring awareness to the needs of artists.

In addition, NYCTF will cultivate a bolder presence of TYA and shine a light on the needs of the children and families as an audience. NYCTF will promote the crucial part that this theater plays in a child's development, and assist artists in fulfilling their artistic vision while staying true to the emotional, educational and playful needs of the children in mind!

By encouraging innovation in development, supporting the artist through mentorship, networking and education and strengthening the important presence of theater for youth, The New York Children's Theater Festival will stand as an advocate for a new generation of Theater for Young Audiences and actively participate in transforming the landscape of this genre.
